I honestly can’t believe this is the first time I’m writing a review for The Strand House — I’ve been here several, several times! It’s one of those places that never disappoints. Usually, I come for brunch, but this time it was a later lunch that still featured the brunch menu (thankfully!). I ordered the chicken and waffles, and they were absolutely amazing — perfectly crispy, tender, and full of flavor. I paired it with the Woodsman cocktail, which was smooth, balanced, and just the right amount of boozy warmth. My parents were just as happy — my dad couldn’t stop talking about how much he loved his lemon drop, and my mom was fully satisfied with her meal. From the ocean view to the service to the food and drinks, it was 5 out of 5 across the board. If I could give it more stars, I absolutely would. The Strand House is a Manhattan Beach classic for a reason!
The Baseline: For a sit down upper-scale restaurant is the quality of the food, existence of any unique offerings, quality of the service, and ambiance of the overall dining experience. December 2025: Food: The Hand Cut Frites is still my favorite. It is my appetizer and we always order them. Service: Great service for the night. My water glass was kept full. Ambiance: Great restaurant that was overlooking the beach and we had a great corner table to see the strand and the pier. September 2025: Food: The Hand Cut Frites are my favorite thing to get here consistently which are fried in beef tallow and taste like awesome in physical form. Yes. This. Also steak, with the Dry aged ribeye which was cooked to other people’s preference (aka not medium rare) but even with that extra level of cook on the meat it was tender and the flavor of the meat shined through. I ended up liking it better than the Beef short rib which was still incredible and tender. The crab cakes were also good for a starter. The donuts were okay, but only because I feel my go to donut shops are the better donut. Service: Great service for the night we were there and our waiter was attentive/engaging. Lots of check ins and water was kept full. We felt well taken care of and worth a +20% tip to our waiter. Ambiance: The Strand House is a gem of a location in Manhattan Beach adjacent to the pier. The openness of the dining area with the outside breezes came into the restaurant with a nice low lighting to make it fell comfortable. This is a higher class dining experience and it is worth it for the experience.
Was able to come here without a reservation on a Thursday night and only had to wait about 15 mins. The salmon was amazing and so was my wine. Server was good but the true star was Mario; always kept our water filled and even gave us some recommendations. Very attentive and he truly made the experience. Will be back
Did not eat there but went to Manhattan Beach to go there. But had a change of mind wanted a different cuisine. Beautiful place, great view of the sunset, right on the beach. You will enjoy it. Safe did not see a lot of homeless people down on the beach. Oh, really?
I had an incredible experience at The Strand House. The oceanfront setting is absolutely stunning, especially at sunset—it creates the perfect backdrop for a memorable meal. The food was exceptional, with fresh, seasonal ingredients and beautifully balanced flavors in every dish. The cocktails were just as impressive, crafted with care and creativity. Service was top-notch: attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming without being overbearing. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between upscale and relaxed. Whether for a special occasion or a night out, this place truly delivers. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Perfect for a date any time of the day and you get a beautiful view of the beach. We were greeted warmly and service was phenomenal. The restaurant itself is gorgeous with mainly windows (feeling like glass walls) that you get a panoramic view surrounding The Strand House. The drinks and food had such beautiful presentation. I got so lost in the moment that I didn’t get a chance to take a photo of our main course. There are also many options to take a walk and bar hop if you don’t want the night to end. I highly recommend The Strand House if you want to make a good impression and to celebrate any occasion - or just to even have a nice catch up.

An incredible dining spot right near the pier, with truly stunning ocean views, especially at sunset. The food was just as impressive as the setting. The fries are a must-try, perfectly crisp and flavorful. The ahi tuna salad was fresh and beautifully balanced, not overpowered by vinegar (as it usually happens) and the sea bass was cooked to perfection with lots of flavours. For dessert, the truffle hazelnut treat is an absolute standout, rich, indulgent, and reminiscent of a Ferrero Rocher. Parking in the area can be a bit challenging, with mostly metered spots nearby. There is some free street parking in the surrounding residential areas if you don't mind a short walk.
Manhattan Beach at its finest. Great view of the water. Service is attentive. Drinks are 5* expect a nice bill for 4. $$$$. PEI Oysters a must if you love them.
Location and Atmosphere is Top Notch! The beach front vibe does not get any better. The downstairs get a view of the ocean and the pier, but not a full view of the sunset. The place is packed, even on a Tuesday. But our server was amazing and on point. She was able to deliver an excellent service. Food is great. The Lamb Chops was perfectly grilled, flavorful, moist and tender. Definitely the best Lamb Chops I've had. The brussel and bacon is a must. Price is above average, but considering the location its still a steal. Parking is a problem, metered or the lot. Best to take Uber/Lyft.
